Rebecca Daniel
While at the Royal Academy of Music in London, Rebecca Daniel studied with Emanuel Hurwitz and the Amadeus String Quartet; and performed chamber music throughout the UK. After being invited to join the Australian Chamber Orchestra, she discovered the joys of Musical Theatre and was the orchestra leader for Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Beauty & the Beast and The Sound of Music; she played in West Side Story and A Little Night Music.

She has performed, toured and recorded with some extraordinary musicians including John Denver, Bread, John Farnham, INXS, Anthony Warlow, Shirley Bassey and Barbra Streisand; and has also recorded many movie soundtracks, such as Strictly Ballroom and Moulin Rouge. And now Rebecca is a member of Blue Dream with Fiona Joy Hawkins

Andy Busuttil
Andy Busuttil         is a renowned Australian transcultural musician. He has performed at major festivals and with many musicians from a wide range of genres. One of his most recent passions is in exploring the place of his origin, the Islands of the Maltese Archipelago.  Andy uses this influence along with his improvisational skills on voice, clarinet, saxillo (hybrid clarinet/Hungarian Tarratato) and percussion with Blue Dream and the influences from street vendors and ghanejja Bormliza of Malta, to the sinuous wind players of the Balkans, the Middle East and Asia Minor and the percussionists of the Middle East, Greece, Macedonia and Turkey have found a new and welcome home in Fionas compositions.

"Musicians like Andy Busuttil         are the heart and soul of music. Like all similarly besotted passionate souls , he plays, not for monetary gain or from a desire to feed his ego, but because he loves his music, he believes music is a common language that can bind us all closer together as human beings, and because he just plain bloody well enjoys it.! And he tries to communicate this passion and this sense of sharing and communication with his audiences in his performances. Andy may well be singing in Turkish, Kurdish, or whatever, but really he is singing in the common language of humanity - compassion, honesty, joy. What more can you want from music?"........ Eric Bogle

Dave Ellis
In a playing career which has spanned nearly 50 years, Dave has been a member of the Western Australian and Sydney Symphony Orchestras, the Australian Elizabethan Theatre Trust Sydney Orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, various freelance Orchestras, Jazz, Rock, Country Music, Cabaret, Experimental groups and now, the contemporary Flamenco group, Arrebato Ensemble.

FIONA JOY HAWKINS RECEIVES ARIA NOMINATION AND IS ON THE GRAMMY BALLOT PAPERS

Australian musician Fiona Joy Hawkins is a star on the rise with a nomination for Best Album (Blue Dream) in the World Music category in this year’s ARIA Awards plus the album and songs from it are on the Grammy Ballot papers in five categories: Best Instrumental Composition, Best Surround Sound, Best New Age Album, Best Pop Instrumental and Best Engineer.

Blue Dream was released by ABC Music in April and features a guest performance from Luka Bloom. This is Fiona’s fourth album. It was upon hearing her earlier music that legendary Grammy Award winning musician Will Ackerman contacted Fiona and asked if she’d like to record her next album at his studio in Vermont. The result has been a phenomenally successful album that just continues to receive high praise.

Fiona is a classically trained pianist who draws upon a number of styles and influences from classical to world rhythms, jazz and New Age to create her own musical tapestry that is spiritually evocative and intimate.

Fiona will be making a rare concert appearance at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, Penrith, at 7.30pm, Friday November 20th. The concert will include a talk from Robin Howat a music therapist from Nordoff-Robbins about the power of music and its healing and health benefits.

This is fantastic opportunity to catch Fiona in concert and hear what all the excitement is about. Fiona will be joined on stage by Rebecca Daniel on violin, Patricia McMeekin on cello, Andy Busuttil on clarinet, saxillo and percussion.

Fiona received the 2008 MusicOz winner for Best Classical/Jazz Artist. She released her first independent album Portrait Of A Waterfall in 2005. Veteran New Age Music critic Bill Binkelman said of her latest album Blue Dream “[for] devotees of contemporary piano and ensemble recordings [Blue Dream] sets a new standard of emotional depth, production quality, and musical variety.”

All of Fiona’s albums have received critical acclaim with numerous awards and nominations including two for the 2007 LA Music Awards.

Little Hartley Music has had its first big success as a label

Share

Little Hartley Music has had its first big success as a label. Portrait of a Waterfall (original romantic piano) by Fiona Joy Hawkins has charted at #1 for November, #4 December and #1 again in January on the New Age Reporter World Radio Charts.

This album was also a finalist in the NAR Lifestyle Music Awards for the Best Instrumental Piano Album for 2005.

  • Best Piano Album, NAR Lifestyle Music Awards 2006.
  • Finalist MusicOz Awards and LA Music Awards 2006 & 2007 in two categories.
  • #1 New Age Reporter Top 100 International Radio Charts Nov 2005, Jan 2006, and again Feb and March 2008 with ICE - Piano
    Slightly Chilled.

MUSIC TO DREAM TO Fiona Joy Hawkins' piano album has been described as 'music to dream to'. Featuring piano with orchestration, Portrait of a Waterfall calms the mind and yet allows it's listener to become lost in the beauty of romantic melodies.

Angel Above my Piano was released in 2006 and has been honoured with several 'best piano' awards. It is grand and thematic and takes you to places you only dream of.

ICE - Piano Slightly Chilled was released in Feb 2008 and went straight to #1 on the NAR International radio charts in the same month. ICE incorporates piano with rhythm and crosses genres like new age, jazz, world and even a touch of rock. Classically trained as a pianist, Fiona has been writing music since childhood. Her work is thematic and melodic. With a keen eye on film she has always been interested in creating music that evokes images and emotions and tells a story. "The idea of synchronicity has always intrigued me, colours, ideas and emotions all have corresponding sounds which describe everything I see and feel".

Blue Dream is currently being recorded at Imaginary Road Studios and is 70 minutes written as one single piece of music by Award winning Pianist and Composer Fiona Joy Hawkins. Produced by Grammy winner Will Ackerman, it features guest performances by Luka Bloom, T-Bone Wolk (Hall & Oates), Eugene Friesen and some of the best instrumental artists in the world.
